The McLauglin's Wholesaling Novice Rep's welcomed the Drayton Defenders to the Mitchell arena on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 for a 6:00pm game. The Defenders were coming in to Mitchell on a winning streak of three(3) games and are currently sitting fourth in the division. The Meteors have lost the last three games but have showed great improvement over that stretch and were looking to continue to build on it.
The Meteor's would tie their season high "goals for" versus the Drayton Defenders with five goals. And despite the high score; the game saw plenty of spectacular saves from Aedan McCann and strong defensive efforts from Braden Hoegy, Griffin Bree, Jonah Gibbings and Cohen Ahrens.
The Meteors were up in the first period 2 to 0 via goals from Griffin Bree (asst., Max Hannon) and Logan Verberne (asst., Max Hannon and Cohen Ahrens).
The second period would see the Defenders rally for three goals and Meteors answer with one from Logan Verberne (asst., Max Hannon).
Tied at 3 going into the third period, the Meteors put up a tremendous effort but couldn't hold on as the Defenders would add 5 goals to Mitchell's 2. Goals coming from Max Hannon (asst., Ethan Jarmuth, Ryan Glauser) and Braden Hoegy (asst., Ethan Jarmuth and Ryan Glauser)
The Meteor's are off to Kincardine for the 30th annual silver stick tournament and will play two(2) games on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
