Mitchell Scotiabank Bantam AE's win Game 2 of Quarter Finals Playdowns
Mitchell Scotiabank Bantam AE's faced the Walkerton Capitals in game two of the quarter final playdowns, on home ice, Thursday January 21st, winning 2-1.
It seemed like déjà vu as the Capitals had the only point on the board until late in the third period. James Vink stayed solid in net with some quick glove saves as the Capitals picked up momentum with the lead.
Second period had the home team fans on the edge of their seats as Mitchell kept the pressure on but just could not get the puck past the Capital's goal post.
Third period the boys re-grouped and the game picked up some speed. Brenden Boville, assisted by David Rowland and Trevor DeJong, picks up a loose puck sending it into the Capitals goal making it a tie game. This seemed to light a fire as both teams scrambled for control of the puck. It looked like the Capital's were going to come in to break the tie but our strong forwards knocked the puck off their stick. Mitchell gave the Capital's goalie lots of work in net as they went for the win. The hard work paid off as Trevor DeJong, assisted by Kurtis Forrest and Caleb Tweddle sent in the winning goal with just 23 seconds of play left in the game.
Game three in the series will be played Sunday January 24 at 9:00pm on home ice.
