Mitchell Scotiabank Bantam AEs take a heartbreaking loss in Overtime
Mitchell Bantams played game two in the OMHA finals in Ilderton on Thursday March 10 losing 6-5 in overtime.
Mitchell boys came out flying in the first period. Lots of opportunities for both sides but Ryan Bell was solid first period which ended with Mitchell ahead 2-1. Brenden Boville and Jared McCarthy sent in a goal a piece. Assists going to Kurtis Forrest and Trevor DeJong.
Second period it was clear both teams were hungry for a win. The two teams were keeping pace with one another which made for an exciting game. No goals second period Mitchell still ahead 2-1.
Third period exploded as the Jets took a commanding 5-2 lead late in the game. Mitchell boys never gave up as Curt Eidt gets a hat trick and ties things up sending us once again into overtime. Caleb Tweddle, Kurtis Forrest and Brenden Boville pick up the assists.
Mitchell Bantams pressed hard into overtime play but the Ilderton Jets managed to trickle one over the line in sudden death for the second game in a row. Ilderton wins game two 6-5.
