Mitchell Scotabank Bantam AE’s Played Game 1 against Ilderton in OMHA Finals
Mitchell Bantams hit home ice on Tuesday March 8th for game 1 in the OMHA finals against Ilderton. It was an exciting game with fans jumping from their seats to cheer on their hometown team.  Unfortunately, the Ilderton Jets take the 4-3 win in overtime play.

First period Mitchell had numerous attempts on the Jets goal with a couple of great breakaways that just did not land in the net.  Ilderton were hot on the ice and would be first on the board with two goals from the point late in the first period.  First period ends with Ilderton ahead 2-0.

With just 28 seconds left in the second period Tristan Beehler assisted by Kurtis Forrest and Clayton McCarthy kept Mitchell in the game sending the puck into the back of the Ilderton net.
Second period ends 2-1 for Ilderton.

Third period the boys were flying on the ice.  Mitchell worked hard to gain control of the game. After a scramble beside the Ilderton net Caleb Tweddle sends a nice pass over to Brenden Boville who sent it  home, tying things up 2-2.  Ilderton came back just 2 minutes later moving ahead 3-2.  Mitchell was not going to give up easily.  Our forwards kept up the pressure keeping the puck in the Ilderton end.  After a scramble in front of the net the puck deflects off an Ilderton player and with the help of Jake Monden and Clayton McCarthy Mitchell again ties things up 3-3 sending us into overtime.

Both teams came into overtime play eager for the win.  Unfortunately, Ilderton managed to get one past James Vink at the end of a power play.  Ilderton takes game 1 in the first to 6 point series.

Come cheer the team on for a win Thursday, March 10th as the boys play game 2 in Ilderton at 8:10pm.  We sure would appreciate some fans in the stands in Ilderton.
