Peewee AE Boys Advance to Semis in OMHA Playdowns
Mitchell played 3 strong games in the last week to sweep the series 3-0 against the Walkerton Capitals and advance to the Semi Finals.

After a huge game #1 win 8-3 in Walkerton last Sunday, the boys hosted the team at home for game #2.  Drew Scherbarth opened the scoring on his first shift with a beautiful shot giving Brett Poirier and Cameron Hahn the assists. The boys ended the period up 1-0.The second period began with another quick goal from Mitchell when Wade Monden notched his first of the night.  Solomon Koert earned the assist.  Less than 2 minutes later, Monden earned his second goal after a nice feed from Koert.  Hahn also earned an assist. Walkerton answered back with a goal and the Meteors were heading into the third period with a 3-1 lead.  The final period opened with Mitchell continuing to play a fairly aggressive game.  Greg Reidy made some great saves for Mitchell to keep the boys in the game.  The Meteors fourth goal came on a beautiful play from Poirier on a power play faceoff deep in Walkerton's end.  Poirier won the face-off and tapped the puck to Joey Adam, in the slot, who let a beautiful bar-down, one timer go and completed Mitchell's scoring at 4.  Walkerton was able to get a second goal in on Reidy when the Meteors let their guard down but that would be all they would give up and the boys won the game 4-2.

Game #3 was today in Walkerton.
The boys had a rough first couple periods but kept fighting though as they tried to get their groove back.  Scoring opened when Curtis Chaffe let a shot go from the point that was deflected high in the air and landed behind the Walkerton goalie and trickled in the net.  Not pretty but it put Mitchell on the board.  Less than four minutes later, The Capitals tied it up on a nice rebound that Reidy had no chance on.  With just under a minute left in the first, Coulter Rolph tapped in a rebound to once again put Mitchell in the lead 2-1.  Evan MacArthur ('03) and Evan MacArthur ('04) both earned the assists.  The second period wasn't pretty.  The boys had some great chances but just couldn't capitalize on them.  Walkerton kept pushing and ended up tying the game.  The boys headed off for the flood in a 2-2 tie.  I'm not sure what was said in the dressing room but when the boys began the third period, they were a new team.  They skated and made some great passes and great defensive plays.  The Meteors were back in it to win!  The third period scoring began on the first shift with Eidt rifling a shot deep in the net.  Koert got the assist.  On his very next shift, Eidt raced the defence down the ice toward the Walkerton net minder.  It seemed to take the goalie by surprised when Eidt out skated the defence and he was able to tap in an easy goal to earn his second of the night and put the Meteors ahead 4-2.  Less than a minute later, Adam raced down the ice with the puck and banked it hard off the boards making a beautiful pass to Scherbarth who ended with a break away. His hard shot snuck through the goal tender and trickled across the line giving Mitchell a 5-2 lead.  The final goal of the game came from MacArthur ('03) on a breakaway and a nice top shelf shot.  Hahn earned the assist.  Although the boys began the game pretty slow,  they managed to find enough drive to dominate the third period and sweep the series 3 games to 0.  The boys now head in to the Semis against Ilderton.  Way to go Mitchell!!
