Peewee AE's Take Upper Hand in Provincial Finals
The boys were on the road this weekend for 2 games against the Durham Crusaders.  They won both games and will be returning next weekend to complete the series at home.

Mitchell played an end to end game for game #2 of the series in Whitby Saturday afternoon.  It was one of the fastest, most intense games they have played all year.  The boys were backed by some amazing goaltending by Greg Reidy, who was stellar in net.  There was only one goal in this evenly matched game which came with 7 minutes left in the final period when a sprawling Josh Eidt tapped in the puck on a scramble in front of the Crusaders net.  Solomon Koert and Wade Monden fought hard for the assists.
Game #3 of the series was Sunday in Oshawa.  This game was also very fast but this time Mitchell played an extremely smart game and moved the puck very well. The Meteors were first on the scoreboard with just under 2 minutes left in the first period when Drew Scherbarth notched his first goal of the game.  Brett Poirier earned the assist.  The boys headed into the second period leading 1-0.  Early in the period, Durham managed to sneak one by Reidy to tie the game.  Mitchell answered back with a goal just over a minute later when Eidt scored.  Koert got the assist.  Some aggressive offense by the Crusaders, had Goaltender Reidy making many amazing saves to keep the boys in the game.  Durham finally tied the game on a rebound and the Meteors were heading for the second period flood tied at 2.   The boys came out just as hard as they had in the first and continued to play an aggressive and fast hockey game.  Just a few minutes into the period, Joey Adam took a nice feed from Poirier and scored putting Mitchell up 3-2.  A minute later, Monden got an unassisted goal and the Meteors widened the lead by 2.  With 6 minutes left in the game, Scherbarth rushed down the ice and notched his second goal, increasing the lead to 5-2.  Poirier and Adam earned the assists.  Nearing the end of the period, the Durham Crusaders cut the lead but it wasn't enough and the Meteors were able to hold on and win the game 5-3.

The Meteors now lead the series 2 games to 1  and will head back to Mitchell to play game #4 Saturday March 12 at 3:45.  Go Meteors Go!!
