Mitchell Novice LL2 take big wins against BCH and Goderich to move up in play offs!!
With three games left in the first round of the playoffs, the Dodge Caravan Novice LL 2 team needed two wins to advance.

The journey began Monday night as they faced BCH AE in Hensall. The Meteors started strong and did not look back. They held leads of 3-0 after 1, 6-1 after 2 and ended the game winning 8-1. Four players ended the game with four points. Payton Wood continued his strong playoff with four assists, most of them coming from hardwork in the corners. Noah Mann recorded the hat trick and added an assist. Ryan Hubbard had two goals and two helpers. Ben Medhurst had 1 goal and three assists. Trevor Turk chipped in with two goals, and Lincoln Lorentz added an assist and came inches from scoring more than once. The defence core of Colby Ryan, Ethan Meinen, Bradley Dearing and Ethan Dearing were once again solid defending the lead. This win would set up a winner goes to the finals, the following night with the Goderich Garb and Gear Sailors.

This game would have the atmosphere of a game 7. The Sailor fans would come armed with cow bells, clickers and air horns. They would erupt half way through the second period as the visiting Sailors thought they had scored, however Ethan Meinen pulled the puck off the goal line and cleared it out of trouble. Later in the second, the relentless Meteor forechecking payed off. Medhurst sent the puck out front to Lorentz, who cleverly played it to Mann who banged it home, staking the home side to a 1-0 lead. The third period would be very tense with both sides exchanging chances. Keagan "the Wall" Meinen, made several key saves keeping the Sailors off the board. The Goderich coaching staff, who must have been studying the analytics, pulled their goalie with over 2:30 left. The Sailors kept coming at the Meteors who were able to keep clearing the zone until Ethan Meinen fired a hard puck up to Ryan Hubbard, who was able to shoot it into the yawning cage, with one second remaining on the clock. Congrats fellas, it appears South Bruce is up next with a shot at the WOAA Novice Local League Maroon Title up for grabs. Good luck.
