NOVICE LL2 WIN GOLD IN WAINFLEET!!
On Saturday the Dodge Caravan kids novice LL 2 team travelled to Wainfleet to participate in the Wainfleet minor hockey novice Local League Tournament.

Their first opponent would be the South Huron Sabres. Ryan Hubbard staked the Meteors to a two goal lead, scoring both. Noah Mann would add two of his own and Ben Medurst would add the fifth and the Meteors would take the first game 5-2. Player of the game Trevor Turk would add two pretty assist and work hard in he corners all game. Ethan Dearing registered two assists while, single assists went to Mann and Medhurst. Keagan "the wall" Meinen would register his first point of the season assisting on the first goal of the tournament.
In their second game Mitchell would play The Pelham Panthers 3 team. Ryan Hubbard would lead all scorers with 2 goals and 3 assists. Trevor Turk had two goals and an assist, while Darius Ladd had three helpers. Ben Medhurst also found the back of the net scoring one goal and getting one assist. Mann scored as well, and Payton would add one assist. The Meteors would triumph 6-1. Player of the game Bradley "the Rock" Dearing played solid on the point all game.
Mitchell would finish second in pool play and receive a bye into the semis on Sunday, where they faced another entry from Pelham, the Panthers 2 team. After a scoreless first, medhurst would open the scoring 30 seconds into the second going "bar down" with a beautiful wrist shot. Mann would score their second goal of the game slamming home a rebound of another one of Medhurst's shots. Player of the game Mann would also register an assist and Ladd would tally a single helper. "The Wall" would register a shut out and the Meteors would advance to the finals.
In the finals Mitchell would play the host Wainfleet Wild. The Wild would prove to be a formidable opponent taking the play to the Meteors for the first two periods. If not for Meinen in net, the Meteors could have easily been trailing by a few. Early in the third, Payton Wood would jump on a Mann rebound and open the scoring. Ethan Meinen would also get a helper on the opening goal. Wainfleet would answer right back on a breakaway, tying things up at 1. Then with only 1:50 left on the clock Turk would jump on a loose puck in the slot and fire a wrist shot into the low corner, for what would turn out to be the tournament winning goal. Wood and E. Dearing would register assist on the game winner. The Wild would press hard in the last minute but the Meteors set up in the defensive end and worked hard to continually get the puck out. Special mention to Colby Ryan who was excellent on the blue line all tournament. Well done gentleman.

On a side note, the Dodge caravan kids novice LL 2 team lost their second round robin game in the playoffs. They fell to Milverton on Sunday Feb 15 by a score of 2-1. Trevor Turk scored the lone goal with assist going to Payton Wood and Ryan Hubbard. Their record now stands at 1-1 with six games still to play.
