Novice LL2 win first play off game vs Goderich
On Hockey Day in Canada, which happened to fall on Valentine's Day, the Meteors made the trip West to Goderich for game 1 of their playoff round robin.

There would be no love today for Goderich, a team which had surrendered only five goals in 17 league games. The Meteors started like they had been shot out of a cannon. Ryan Hubbard slammed a rebound past a sprawled out goaltender to open the scoring only 15 seconds into the game. 38 seconds later Payton Wood jumped on another rebound to put Mitchell up by two before the game was a minute old. Goderich would use their only timeout right after, but it made no difference. Ethan Meinen would unleash a hard wrist shot that would find the five hole, to bring the lead to three. Then late in the first period, Ben Medhurst would be the beneficiary of a well-designed offensive zone face off sniping one top shelf. The Meteors would hold a four goal lead heading into the second. Goderich would start to push back, however, Ethan Meinen, Colby Ryan , Bradley Dearing and Ethan Dearing would tighten up in their own end and continually get the puck out. Ryan Hubbard would pot his second goal in the second to make the score 5-0. Late in the third, Mitchell would fall into a lull, and the host sailors would capitalize with three goals in 58 seconds. After a timeout, Mitchell would regroup and take the play into the Goderich end for the last minute and secure the victory. It should be noted, the cow bells remained silent for a great portion of the game.
