Novice Boys take home Hanover Gold
On Saturday Feb 7 the the Mitchell Dodge Caravan Kids took an early morning trip to Hanover to compete for Gold,
Opening game would begin at 9:10 am with the boys competing against Kincardine Green Hornets. Mitchell
ould open the scoring with Noah Mann assisted by Ben Medhurst. Kincardine would answer back with a goal of them own but Mitchell scoring was far from over. The first period would would result in mitchell scoring five more goals. Ryan Hubbard would get two goal assisted by Ethan Meinen andTrrvor Turk. Trevor Turk would add a goal to his number assisted by Hubbard and Payton Wood. Noah Mann would round out his goals with Two at the end of the period assisted by Medhurst and Ethan Dearing. Mitchell up 6 1. Second period play would end with Two goals from Medhurst assisted by Colby Ryan and Noah Mann and another two goals from Hubbard assisted by Lincoln Lorentz and Darius Ladd. Kincardine would put a quick one past Mitchell goalie to end the second. Third period play would begin with Darius Ladd scoring back to back goals assisted by Trevor Turk Medhurst and Mann. Ethan Meinen would end Mitchell's scoring with a well placed puck to end the game final score mitchell 13 Kincardine 2.
Game #2. Mitcell took the ice to battle the undefeated Hanover #1team. With strong sticks and good passes Mitchell would battle fatigue but triumph scoring two goals in the first. Darius Ladd would open the scoring with quick break in the opponents end unassisted. Ben Medhusrt would follow with a goal of his own and a second one assisted by Noah Mann to put Mitchell up 3 0. Ryan Hubbard would add his name to the goal sheet with a nice backhand shot over Hanover goal tender to put Mitchell to 4. With seconds counting down and a Hanover defender coming in solo on Keegan " the wall" Meinen an astounding move by Keegan to make a beautiful glove save would take him to his shutout. Amazing play Keegan. Wish we had got that on video!! Mitchell would win 4 0 and head to the A finals. Game 3 final game for the gold. Mitchell would find themselves matched up against a hard opponent Georgian Shores. From the first puck drop to the final buzzer nerves ran high both for on looking fans and players alike. Mitchell would open the scoring with back to back goals from Trevor Turk both assisted by Ryan Hubbard and Darius Ladd. Back and forth play and grea5 chances by both teams would end the first with mitchell up 2 0. Georgian shores would not go down without a fight tho. Battling hard georgian shores would answer back in the second period with two goals less then two minutes apart. With tension high and scored all tied up mitchell would turn up the pressure with Ben Medhurst at putting a beauty wrist shot over Georgians goalie. Ryan Hubbard would throw his hat in the scoring ring by adding two goals of his own to further Mitchell's lead. Georgian Shores would score there third and final goal in the second and mitchell great defensive play by Bradley Dearing and Keegan "the wall" Meinen would hold them there. Ben Medhurst and Naoh Mann would asure Mitchell's lead and win over Gerogain Shores with a goal a price assists got out to Ethan Menien, Darius Ladd, Ethan Dearing, Lincoln Lorentz, Colby Ryan and Payton Wood. Hard work, determination and the boys ability to come together as a team took the Novice boys to there final win and gold medal!!! Parents and players alike sou!d be proud. Awesome work boys!
