Peewee reps win in Walkerton
The Hoegy's Farm Supply Peewee Rep team traveled to Walkerton on Sunday and showed up to play!
The persistent Meteors controlled the first period generating lots of scoring chances. Goaltender Bradley Boville and the hard working Peewee defence frustrated the Capitals. The Meteors hard work paid off in the 2nd. Mark Knill opened the scoring 3 minutes into the period. Knill battled in the slot and scored on a well placed backhander, assisted by Evan Morrison. Ben Small scored his first goal of the game minutes later at 8:37, assisted by Zach McPhee and Morrison. Walkerton caught the Meteors on a tight line change late in the 2nd and squeaked in a goal with 36 seconds left in the frame. The Peewees got into penalty trouble in the 3rd but the boys worked extra hard and protected their 1 goal lead for the the first 10 minutes of the period. Ben Small then gave Mitchell fans some breathing room by scoring the Meteors third goal of the night. Small fore checked hard, blocked a shot, found the puck and buried his second goal of the night with outstanding effort. Great game fellas.
