Peewee Reps Caledonia Tournament
On Friday Oct. 17th The Hoegy’s Farm Supply Peewee Boys Rep team rolled into Caledonia for their first tournament of the season.

Evan Morrison led the boys to a great start by slipping the puck past the goalie in the first 22 seconds of the first game vs. Ayr.  Morrison’s goal was assisted by Conner MacLean.  At 5:43 in the 2nd Seth Hugyen scored a beauty, assisted by Karsen Eisler and Zac McPhee.  Ayr pushed offensively in the third period and came within one goal but the Meteors were able to keep the Flames at bay and sealed a 2-1 victory.

Mitchell found themselves up against the Simcoe Warriors for their second tournament game. Simcoe took advantage of Mitchell’s sluggish start and scored first at 8:35, fortunately, Mitchell was ready to fight back with a flurry of 4 goals in 4 minutes led by Connor Weir. Weirs first goal was assisted by Hugyen.  Soon after, Connor MacLean scored, assisted by Devin Fenwick.  Not to be outdone, Mark Knill scored, assisted by Weir and Kyle Richardson and finally Weir found the back of the net again, assisted by Knill and Sam Snyders.  Simcoe rallied and added their second goal with 38 seconds left in the 1st period.  Simcoe earned the only goal of the second period and found themselves within a goal of the Meteors. At 8:32 in the third Simcoe stunned Mitchell to tie this high scoring game but the Peewees regained their 1st period momentum and at 6:22 Morrison scored, assisted by MacLean and Ben Small. MacLean added his second goal of the game, assisted by Morrison and produced a 6 to 4 win. What a game!

Mitchell’s 3rd game was Saturday Morning against the Caledonia Lightning.  Mitchell opened the scoring at 5:36 in the first period with a goal from MacLean, assisted by Ben Small and Morrison.  Caledonia fought back with 2 goals in the second, but a goal from Morrison, assisted by Maclean, tied the game. At 2:24 in the third period Karsen Eisler scored the game winner assisted by Morrison and Hugyen. Meteors Goalie Greg Reidy made sure Caledonia didn’t score again.  Desperate and running out of time, the Lightening pulled their goaltender but Ben Small capitalized with an empty netter assisted by Fenwick and Morrison. The Peewee’s were heading to the semi’s undefeated.

After a 5 hour layover the Meteors laced up for the Semi-final game against Hagersville. Mitchell got on the scoreboard first with an early goal from Zac McPhee assisted by Richardson. The team had trouble pulling it together and Hagersville tied the game with a late goal in the first. The 2nd and 3rd periods were scoreless and the game headed into OT deadlocked at 1:1. The tired Meteors found some energy in the 4 on 4 OT period.  Morrison drove the net, beat the goalie, but grazed the crossbar. Hagersville burnt the Meteors scoring with 1.6 seconds left ending Mitchell’s first tournament experience. Tough loss!
