Unlucky with Lucan
The Tru-Country and Garden Novice 1 girls team faced off against the Lucan Irish twice this weekend, with mixed results.
Saturday evening Mitchell hosted Lucan to an aggressive and competitive game. Lucan started the attack first with two goals in the first period, leaving the girls to catch up.The novice girls had difficulty getting the puck through Lucan's tight defense, but eventually got some shots on net. The wingers assisted all the way but the scoring credit went to Sadie for both of Mitchell's markers on the scoreboard.
Lucan came back to sneak one past our stellar goalie Shawni, to end the game 3-2 loss for Mitchell.
Meeting again Sunday afternoon in Lucan the Novice girls again had a tough battle ahead of them. Unable to keep up to Lucan's aggressive pace, the girls quickly fell behind by 2 mid-way through the second period. Shawnie made some great saves in net, keeping Mitchell in the game. Sadie came back again with the same trick she used Saturday to score two goals in the third. With a tied game Mitchell tried everything they had to net a goal, but came up short. Final score 2-2 tie.
Better luck next weekend girls, as they travel to Sarnia for a double header.
