The Novice Girls 1 hockey team hosted the South Huron Sabres to their home ice Sunday evening for their fourth hockey game of the season.
The quick pace the Sabres set kept Mitchell skating to keep up from the start of the game to the end. This proved a challenge as they floated one in the net, past goalie Cydney in the first period. The Sabres defense protected their blue line well, keeping the puck out of their end.
Second period started out strong, as Mitchell battled back with a nice tip from Shawni from a beautiful pass in front of the net by Josie. With their marker on the scoreboard Mitchell came together as a team to add some pressure. Moving into the third period Sadie added a goal, assisted by Jordyn. The Sabres added one of their own in the third period to tie the game. This one proved to be a real nail-biter as Mitchell battled back hard. Sadie had a hard shot past their goalie to take the lead half way through the third period, assisted by Alexis. South Huron was not going to accept a one goal loss, pulling their goalie the last minute of play, they were unable to capture a tie. Final score 3-2 Mitchel win.
