Great start to the Season Girls!
The Novice 1 Girls Hockey team has started their regular season play with two wins and one close loss.
In their first game of the season the Novice 1 girls team faced off against Stratford. Coming on strong offensively to score 4 goals in the first period, then 2 in the second the Stratford team couldn't catch up. Credit goes to our center Sadie with 5 of the goals and Lauren with 1. Assists for Claire (3), Cydney and Brooklyn.
The pace continued into the third period as Sadie's momentum carried on to score 2 more goals, one assisted by Ally. Stratford attempted to get one past our goalie Shawni, but was not able to find the back of the net until the last minute of play to put them on the score board for one. Final score 8-1 win for Mitchell!
Traveling the Seaforth to play BCH mid-week the girls worked together to control the puck throughout the game. Keeping the play in BCH`s end most the game, they tested their goalie with numerous shots from all the offensive players as well as some defense. The BCH goalie stood strong and was able to block all but two shots. One by Lauren unassisted, the other by Sadie assisted by Claire. BCH was able to pace themselves and break through our strong defense to score one each period. Final score 3-2 for BCH.
On the road Saturday morning to Lucan the team was ready for the challenge of the Lucan Irish. It was a whole team effort that rewarded them with a win 2-1. Charlee protected the blue line with vilagence, while Ally and Jordyn and Alia kept the puck in offensive end. This allowed centers Sadie and Lauren to charge the net. Super support from wingers Shawni, Claire, Alexis and Josie demonstrated great team play and excellent passing. Cydeny`s first game in net was a success. Sadie is credited for the two goals of the game in the third period, effectively catching up to Lucan`s one goals lead in from the second period. Another win for Mitchell Novice 1 girls 2-1.
