Schinbein with OT Winner in Game 1
The Meteors edged off the Hanover Falcons 2-1 in overtime to take game 1 of the series.

The Meteors drew first blood in the contest when Devon Schinbein snapped one past the Hanover goaltender for his first of the night, assists by Evan Chaffe and Joe McCarthy. The Meteors held off a number of Hanover scoring chances with solid goaltending by Dan Skinner.
After a rather uneventful second frame with one penalty per team and no goals for either side, the stage was set for a dramatic third period. Despite a number of big hits by Sam Skinner and call-up Kevin Rops the Meteors could not get motivated enough to extend their lead. Finally the Falcons tied the game with just over 6 minutes left on a 2 on 1 break. After neither team could add, the teams headed into a 10 minute overtime.
Mitchell and Hanover went back and forth exchanging big hits and great offensive rushes. Skinner made a number of great saves to keep Mitchell in it. After the Meteors failed to capitalize on a power-play they managed to set up in the Falcon’s end.  With nearly 5 minutes left in overtime Trevor Skinner fired a great point shot and the rebound skittered to a wide-open Schinbein who buried his second on the night to win the game for the Midgets.
Mitchell will head up to Hanover Thursday night hoping to gain a 2 games to none choke-hold on the Falcons.
