Skinner scores two in final game of regular season
The Meteors tied the Listowel Cyclones 3-3 Sunday night, their third tie in the last couple weeks.

Mitchell opened the scoring with a nice goal by Sam Skinner set up beautifully with assists from Owen Smith and Trevor Skinner. The Cyclones would answer back quickly however, to tie it up at 1 just before the end of the opening frame.
Mitchell would answer back with a goal early into the second by Joe McCarthy set up by Devon Schinbein and Josh Taylor. Again the Cyclones would answer back tying it up at 2, then adding another with under a minute to play, they took the lead.
After a Listowel forward bowled over Scott Herbert, the Meteors went to work on a 4 minute power-play. Despite a number of great chances the Meteors couldn’t capitalize on the advantage but finally scored just seconds after the power-play expired with Sam Skinner’s second of the night set up again by Trevor Skinner. In the dying seconds of the game Schinbein fed Chaffe for a last chance breakaway but couldn’t get a shot away due to Listowel defenders closely pursuing.
Herbert made 33 saves on the night with a lot of help from his defencemen to keep the game close. Call-ups Luken Van Pelt and Kevin Rops both played phenomenal again for Mitchell especially considering they played back to back games that evening.
Meeting to schedule the playoffs will take place this week, and the Meteors are expected to begin by the weekend or early next week.
