Midgets wind down regular season
The Meteors are ending their season with a solid 1-2-2 record over the last couple weeks gaining momentum as they head into playoffs.

After a win and a loss for the Meteors after the Palmerston tournament, the Meteors had a back to back homestead with Seaforth 6 days apart. In the first match after took a quick one goal lead Mitchell answered back with two of their own with goals from Owen Smith and Jordan Mabb,  assists from call-ups, Luken Van Pelt and Kevin Rops and Smith in Mabb`s goal. Nearly half way through the second Joe McCarthy and Devon Schinbein set up Jacob Shuker as the Meteors took a 3 goal lead. Unfortunately Seaforth answered back with two more to tie it up and another less than a minute into the third to go ahead 4-3. After a number of great rushes by  Sammy Skinner, Ben Davey and Brett Adair the Meteors finally answered back as Smith picked up his second of the night with assists by Mabb and Rops. From there neither team could add as it concluded in a draw.

The second game against started off rough for Mitchell as they allowed an early goal and couldn’t answer back throughout the first period. The Meteors responded halfway through the second with a goal by Evan Chaffe assisted by Schinbein and McCarthy. Mitchell responded yet again with under two to go in the frame as McCarthy set up Chaffe`s second on the night. Seaforth tied it up a minute later at 2 with 31 seconds to go in the second setting up an action packed third frame. The Meteors struck first with a goal by McCarthy assisted by Schinbein to take a 3-2 lead. Dan Skinner played excellent in goal holding off Seaforth combined with great  plays by defence pair Josh Taylor and Trevor Skinner. Seaforth finally put one in to tie it up with under four minutes to go in the third. With under two to go Evan Chaffe fooled the Seaforth defenceman and went in all alone on a breakaway where he was tripped up leading to a penalty shot. Chaffe came in slow gradually picking up speed but couldn`t put the quick deke past the goaltender. After a few scrambled rushes by both teams in the last minute, no results came about and the teams tied again this time at 3.

The Midgets played Goderich at home on Sunday night. The scoring went back and forth in the first and early second period with Goderich scoring first. With the score 2-2 in the second Goderich piled on to their lead making it 4-2 and after Mitchell scored again to draw closer Goderich scored again to make it 5-3. Goderich added their final goal of the game to make it 6-3 in the third period. All three goals were scored by Evan Chaffe with assists by McCarthy, Davey and Taylor.

The Meteors will take on the Listowel Cyclones Sunday night in their final regular season game.
