Meteors Dominate But Come Up Short
The boys hosted game #1 of the WOAA Lockridge finals against the Goderich Sailors.  They came out hard and played a much better game than in the Provincial series but just couldn't get the puck to the net often enough to win and fell 5-2.

Mitchell came out flying and dominated the opening period getting a few great chances on net but it was Goderich who notched the first goal with just over a minute left in the period.  The second period was much the same with Mitchell getting the puck deep in the Sailors end but just didn't take the shots when they were available and allowed Goderich to get their second goal of the game.  Mitchell answered back with a beautiful top shelf shot from Joey Adam to cut the lead in half and give the boys a chance to come back.  Josh Eidt and Kyle Eisler earned the assists.  Unfortunately, Goderich was not going to sit back and scored with 38 seconds left in the period to end the second with Mitchell down 3-1.  The Sailors opened the third period with another goal to increase their lead 4-1 but Brett Poirier answered right back with a nice rebound shot to again cut the lead in half.  Darren Feltz earned the assist.  Mitchell battled and tried to come back but a Goderich goal with 2 minutes left in the game made it a steep hill to climb and the boys ended the game losing 5-2.  Charlie Wood played in net for the Meteors.  Although the score doesn't show it, the boys had a good game.  They fought hard, dug in the corners, had great chances on net and dominated much of the game but Goderich just seemed to be able to capitalise on most of their chances.  Great try boys!  Keep it up for next game on Thursday at 5:30 in Goderich!! Go Meteors Go!!
