The Boys Are Back and Heading to the League Finals!!
The boys hosted the Zurich Thunder in the final game of the round robin league play-offs tonight. After 6 games, the boys have 6 wins and are heading to the Lockridge WOAA Atom Rep Finals against Goderich.
The boys came out to win this final game and not even a hot goal tender was going to stand in their way. They battled hard and showed some great back checking by a few forwards to keep the momentum going through the opening period. Greg Reidy was key in net for Mitchell and wasn't about to let Zurich's net minder get all the glory, making some amazing saves of his own. The boys struggled to get one by the Thunder's goalie until mid way through the third period when Josh Eidt finally found the back of the net. Some great passing led to Tanner Meinen and Kurtis DeJong earning the assists. It was still tense in the stands with just a one goal lead and Zurich planting their best player at centre ice. All nerves were calmed when Joey Adam sniped a second goal for the Meteors with just over three minutes left in the game. Kyle Eisler and Drew Scherbarth earned the assists, fighting hard to feed Adam the puck in front of the net. Mitchell kept the pressure on right until the end to secure the win. Great to see the boys back again doing what they do best...winning!! The boys will face off against the Goderich rep team for the WOAA Lockridge finals. Great game boys!!! Way to go!
