Atom AE Boys Have a Tough Road Trip to Douro
The boys travelled to Douro to play game #2 and #3 of the Provincial semi finals against the Douro Dukes and were handed their first loss this calendar year.

The first game started out great!  The boys played their game and got on the scoreboard right away on a nice shorthanded goal by Josh Eidt.  In the final minutes of the first period, Joey Adam added to Mitchell's lead with an unassisted goal of his own.  Mid way through the second period, Kyle Eisler barely snuck one over the line after receiving a beautiful pass from Adam and the boys were flying, leading 3-0.  After two fifteen minute periods, the boys skated off to allow the ice to be cleaned and get some much needed rest before the third period.  Unfortunately the team that left the ice and the team that returned were drastically different and the boys had to face a revved up Douro team ready to do what ever it took to even the score.  The Dukes outworked and outskated the Meteors and got their first goal of the series on Mitchell's goalie, Charlie Wood.  Two Power play goals later, the score was tied and Mitchell had to desperately hold on during a ten minute over time period.  Almost 2 hours after the game started, the Meteors left the ice with a tie 3-3.
The next day the Meteors were at it again but just didn't have what it took to stand up against an aggressive Douro team and quickly fell behind on the scoreboard.  By the second period flood, the boys were down 4-0.  The one glimmer of hope came at 8:49 in the third when Adam tucked one by the Dukes net minder while Eisler and Drew Scherbarth got the assists.  The boys just couldn't muster up much more of a fight and Douro took the game 7-1, tying up the series with both team taking 3 points.  Goalies Greg Reidy and Charlie Wood split the final game.  The boys take on the Dukes at home this Friday at 6:50 in Mitchell for game #4 and again Saturday at 2:45 in Mitchell for game #5.  Let's go Meteors!!

Reminder: Practice this Tuesday.  Watch the schedule for possible time changes.

Let's go Mitchell, let's go!!
