Atom AE Boys Take Goderich in Three Straight!
The Meteors hosted the Goderich Sailors for game three of the Quarter Finals. Goderich came out hard and fast but were no match for Mitchell and the boys won the game and move on to the Semi Finals.
Joey Adam opened the scoring for the Meteors with a hard top shelf shot after receiving a beautiful pass from Kyle Eisler. The boys ended the period up 1-0. Charlie Wood played in net for the Meteors and was called on to make some good saves. Early in the second period, Tanner Meinen stepped out of the corner and landed a nice backhander in the back of the net to increase Mitchell's lead 2-0. Josh Eidt got the assist. Mid way through the second, Adam netted his second of the night on a scramble in front of the net while Eisler earned the assist. With one minute left in the period, Goderich scored to bring the score to 3-1. Adam opened the third period with his third goal of the game notching his second hat trick of the year on his signature back hand, top shelf shot. Eisler and Drew Scherbarth earned the assists. The period went back and forth and Mitchell continued to play a fast paced game with the forwards hustling on the back check and the defence doing a great job clearing their zone. With 17 seconds left in the game, Adam rushed past the defence obtaining a breakaway and buried the puck top shelf to net his fourth goal of the game and slam the door on the series. Curtis Chaffe and Eisler earned the assists. The Meteors won the game 5-1 and move on to the Semi Finals! This win marks the Meteors 12th win in a row! Way to go boys!! What an exciting series!
