Atom Boys Off to a Great Start Against Goderich
The Meteors were out of town tonight facing off against the Goderich Sailors for the first game of a six point series. Although the boys were down a teammate, they managed to pull out a win and obtain the first 2 points.
The game started out pretty slow and the first period was fairly evenly played. Greg Reidy was strong in net for Mitchell and bailed the boys out a few times. Scoring began in the second period when Darren Feltz made a beautiful deking move around the defence then picked the perfect opening on net to rifle one in. Brett Poirier and Denzyl Finlayson earned the assists. The second period and much of the third was dominated by Mitchell but we just couldn't get it together and missed many scoring chances. Reidy made many great saves and Poirier did a great job getting back and helping out the defense. With two minutes left in the game, Poirier sunk a beautiful shot deep in the net to seal Mitchell's victory 2-0. Josh Eidt got the assist. Not the best game the boys have played lately, but it was enough for a win and there were some nice passes that made it exciting to watch. Way to go Mitchell!
