Atom Boys Keep Winning Streak Alive!!
The boys were at home for a play-off game against Elma Logan tonight. The hard fighting Meteors came out on top to win 4-1 and record their ninth straight win!
The boys hit the ground running in the first period with a couple quick goals from the Meinen, Eidt, MacArthur line. The first goal was a nice one from Tanner Meinen with Evan MacArthur earning the assist. Just 15 seconds later, Josh Eidt popped the puck in the net, giving Meinen and MacArthur the assists. The boys jumped to an early 2-0 lead. Charlie Wood did a great job in net for the Meteors making some great saves, keeping the boys in the game. The second period opened with a great passing play from Kurtis DeJong and Drew Scherbarth to get the puck to Joey Adam who rifled off a shot, top corner to increase the lead 3-0. Less than a minute later, Eidt notched his second goal of the night while MacArthur and Meinen earned the assists. Although Monkton answered back to score less than a minute later, they couldn't come back against the strong Mitchell team and the Meteors won their ninth game in a row 4-1. This was a very rough game and the boys were hit, tripped and body checked but kept their cool and it paid off. The fans were very impressed that everyone played another intelligent, exciting game. Way to go Mitchell!!
