Novice Reps Win Game #1 in Playoffs!
Mitchell Novice boys began the first round of playoffs with a game against the Mount Forest Rams today.  Although Mitchell came out a little flat, they were able to pull out a win to lead the series 1-0.

The Rams came out hard and eager to win on their home ice.  They were the first on the scoreboard after being awarded a penalty shot early in the first period.  This was the only goal in the period thanks, in part, to some great goal tending by Mitchell's goalie, Charlie Wood.  The second period was end to end with Mitchell getting some scoring chances but they just couldn't capitalize on them and the second period ended with Mt Forest still leading 1-0.  The third period looked like a whole new game for the Meteors.  The boys started moving the puck and skating.  They earned a spot on the scoreboard early in the period on a hard fought goal from Connor Lockhart assisted by Seth Huygen and Connor MacLean.  After more end to end play and Woods helping out between the pipes, it looked as though the boys would be lucky to end with a tie game.  With just 17 seconds left in the game, Huygen popped the puck over the head of the Mount Forest net minder on a scramble in front to give Mitchell a 2-1 lead. Nicholas Houben earned the assist.  The Meteors were able to hold on to the lead for the remaining seconds in a miraculous victory.  Way to go boys!!
