U13 AE Season Is Underway!
What has been anticipated as 'the most exciting team' in Mitchell Meteors history is finally underway. The McLaughlin Auto Wholesale U13 AE coach's have prepped the team for action, and this team is ready to go!
The U13 AE Meteors played their first two league games of the season October 22 and 24, both home games featuring lots of exciting play!
The home opener vs TCDMHA Rebels (Rebels for short) played in front of eager fans as they cheered their home team on. Wesley Berendsen opened the scoring for the year in the first period with the helper from Jake Richardson. The Rebels would respond with 3 unanswered goals in the second and take a 2 goal lead into the third. After a quick pep talk from the coach's the Meteors would strike early in the third period on a goal from Tyler Burtenshaw, assisted by Jack Crowley. Just over 4 minutes later Berendsen would net the equalizer with a nice pass from Sean Gibbings. The game would end in a 3 - 3 tie with Carter Harris making several keys saves to hold the tie.
Next up for the Meteors were northern rivals, the Listowell Cyclones. More great fan support continued for the McLaughlin Auto Wholesale U13 AE squad for the Sunday evening prime time event. With the Meteors firing on all cylinders they overcame an early 1 goal deficit as the Cyclones dissipated quickly for a 7-2 Meteor victory. Goals from the Meteors came from Tyler Burtenshaw (2), Wesley Berendsen (2), Connor Wolfe (2) and Cole Templeman.
A busy November is ahead with West Grey at home this Friday and a trip to Kincardine on Sunday. Good luck boys!
