Weekend split with 1 win, 1 loss
The Mitchell Dodge Caravan Kids Novice LL 1 team had a busy weekend, travelling to Listowel on Saturday and with a game in Monkton on Sunday. Both were close games that had their fans on the edge of their seats!
Both teams came out strong in Listowel, but with good goaltending and defensive play, there was no scoring until late in the second period when Listowel snuck 1 in. After a pep talk from coach Chad Verberne, the Mitchell team retaliated with 2 quick goals in the third period. The first was scored by Emmett Rolph, assisted by Weston Bannon & Greg McKay. The second was scored by Mason Hoegy, assisted by Bannon & Rolph. These boys kept us on the edge of our seats until late in the third when Tyler Verberne scored assisted by Sam McCarthy & Michael Coyne, increasing their lead and ending the game with a score of 3-1.
The Mitchell Dodge Caravan Kids Novice LL 1 team played Sunday against the Mitchell LL 2 team. Mitchell LL 2 put the first goal onbthe board and kept the lead until the third period. They got another 1 in the third to make it 2-0. Tyler Verberne, assisted by Keith Linton, quickly cut the lead to 2-1. Verberne then tied it up with another goal, assisted by Deni Beaudin. Mitchell LL 2 took the lead again with 2 goals. The Mitchell LL 1 team didn't give up and with another goal by Verberne, assisted by Michael Coyne, the score was 4-3. A hat trick for Tyler Verberne! The game ended with a 4-3 loss but the whole team played a great game!
