Mitchell Midget Meteors come back for the win Thursday night
As the holiday season approaches I found myself intrigued with what the local Mount Forest store near the arena could have for ladies night. After dropping off my son, Connor, I quickly sped over with the hopes of winning a fantastic prize and being dubbed "best mom ever" for the great gift find. Sadly, my search continues. I head back to the beautiful Mount Forest Arena to watch what turned out to be a fantastic game between these two midget teams in the evening of November 17, 2016.

The pace was fast and the sticks fighting to gain control of the puck. The two teams battled back and forth with shots fired and pucks stolen for quite some time with the honour of the first goal, sneaking passed Mitchell defence right into our net.

The battle continues with many rushes on net and finally a penalty-The Mitchell Midgets must visit the sin bin on a tripping call. However, only moments later the other side of the penalty box is visited by Mount Forest with a penalty issued to them.   Back and forth the players fly with puck in Mitchell's control, then surrendered to Mount Forest. A bullet from no where is shot at our net with a miss. More puck handling and rushes by each teams to each end. Then, a shot against our goalie, rebound, bounce, bounce, action galore. The puck is  on the goalie line and tips into our net. What a great effort by our goalie, James Copeland and his defence.

The start of the second has the boys continuing to play hard. Mitchell Midgets perservere and fire a shot into the top of the net. Goal awarded to Kurtis Forrest and assist by Ezekiel Koert with 11:14 remaining in the second. The pressure is on as Mitchell continues to bring its strength as they work together to create opportunities. An open net appears unbenounced to the Midget line on the ice. The opportunity passes as the puck drops off a Mitchell stick and is left stagnant on the ice but quickly recovered by the same stick.

With only 8 minutes remaining in the second, the Mount Forest boys gain control and the sound of skate blades cutting ice is heard as they stride toward the Mitchell net with a shot fired and a great safe by goalie, James Copeland. Save after save, Copey shows his talent.  Then a penalty and another and another for both teams.

As the third period begins the teams enter the rink with confidence and pride. The battle continues to grow. Mitchell ties it up with 11:05 with a goal by Kurtis Forrest and assisted by Curtis Eidt. The momentum for the Mitchell Midgets grows and a goal is scored by Trevor DeJong with Eric Dearing getting the assist with 8:05 remaining and by Tristan Beehler, assisted by Curtis Eidt with 7:10 remaining. The Mitchell Midget team understands team work as they pass the puck between open players. Goal five is then achieved by Ezekiel Koert and the final goal, scored on an open net by Kurtis Forrest (hat trick) as assisted by Tristan Beehler, makes this a comeback win of 6-2. Both teams should be proud of their efforts.
