January tourney-Harriston
The Larry Hudson Midget Local League team began their return from holiday break and attended a tournament in Harriston on January 14, 2017. The boys sported their true colours in the first game showing their passion for the puck and respect for the game.

The second period began a fresh start for both teams with South Huron tiring up the game. The puck scramble back and forth between the teams with puck battles being won and lost.

A big penalty for a big swing was a result of tempers flaring in the third. The sin bin was a busy place. The game ended with a win for Mitchell(8 -5).

Game two was played against West Grey. The team did not start strong and surrendered their first goal at just 9:46. Once again the teams showed their strengths and weaknesses as they battled for puck possession and continued to steal the puck from the other or rob the other team of an opportunity to shoot at the net.

Unfortunately, our time in Harriston had come to an end as we lost our second game during sudden death overtime. (4-4). Many members on the bleachers noted the female goaltender playing for West Grey and thought we should mention how proud she and her team should be of her. It's a hard world being a girl in a male sport. We all should be so confident in ourselves! Good job!

That being said, our Larry Hudson Mitchell Midget Local League team certainly does themselves proud as they continue to show their roots, being respectful of others at the arena and playing hard during the game. Despite the occasional slower periods and puck loosing battles, our boys continue to love the game and are strong in being a part of a team. Our goalie keeps us alive at times we should not be. Our defence players protect our goalie and show strength in getting the puck from our end. Our forwards rush the net; all doing their part to make the team a strong front. The members of this team should also be proud of themselves.

Our next game took us to our regular schedule in the Monkton barn against Blyth. The boys were quick on their skates until we surrendered the first goal early in the period at 13:40. A few short visits to the sin bin by each and a lot of attitude shown by both the visiting team and our own. However, the Mitchell boys regained their composure and played the game. It seemed the boys were lacking the desire to have the stick to puck displaying missed pucks and somewhat slow motion movements by the end of the third.

A loss for our record. (4-1)

Next game is January 26 in Wingham at 8:45. Go Meteors go! You have the skill and the mindset. Play your game well boys!
