Good Start to the Season
The Midget Boys LL team started their season this pass week with a tie on our second home ice (Monkton) and a big win on the road in Zurich.

The boys started their season with a home game in Monkton against Central Perth.  Doesn't seem right as it is also their home turf but it was our rink on Tuesday night!
The first period had our boys leading 2-0 with goals from Trevor DeJong and Brenden Boville with Clayton McCarthy and Curtis Edit earning the assists.  Second period was a bit of a breakdown period for our boys as we would allow Central Perth to score 4 goals.  With a bit of line juggling between forwards and defense, half way thru the period Curtis Edit would score unassisted.  With the period ending the scoreboard was not in our favor and we were down 4-3 with just 15 minutes left in the game.  The final period was back and fourth from end to end with lots of close attempts but just couldn't seem to get that little black disk in their net, but in the last minute of play with great speed and stick skills of Curtis Edit and Jackson MacArthur they set up Ezekiel Koert for the game tieing goal. Whew, we tied it up 4-4, just in time to have the buzzer sound for the end of the game.
A few nights later (Friday) we would make the drive to Zurich to take on the Thunder.  The first period was played primarily in Zurich's end but their goalie was sharp and denied our boys of any chances to score.  With a quick break around our players, Zurich would beat our goalie James Copeland to open the scoring and take the lead after the first period.  The second period was a total domination of Mitchell!  We would score 5 goals during this period with Brenden Boville starting things off and Kurtis Forrest and Curtis Edit each adding a pair.  Wow, I don't think Zurich knew what hit them.  Trevor Dejong, Nate Baker, Kurtis Forrest and Curtis Edit all earning multiple assists.  The third and final period was played much the same as the previous one with us adding a few more goals to our lead.  This time Anthony Beuerman would add his name to the list for the night from the pass of Clayton McCarthy.  Kurtis Forrest and Curtis Edit would each score their third goal of the night to earn the hattrick, great work boys! Tristan Beehler earned the final assist of the night.  Zurich would continue to battle back and score a couple more on us to make the final score 8-3.
A great start to the season in your first couple of games.
If your looking to watch some great hockey, come on out to Monkton on Tuesday Oct 18th to watch and cheer on our boys taking on the Minto Mad Dogs.  Let go Meteors!
