FORECHECK, BACKCHECK, PAYCHECK
With just three games left in WOAA playoff action (White South division), the Bantam LL’s have to win all three games as they are in a very tight race with the Seaforth Stars to win the division and move on to the final round.

Wednesday, March 8th, the team travelled to Lucknow to take on the Sepoys.  It was a very calm game and for the first time ever the Meteors did not have to serve any time in the sin bin.  Another uncharacteristic move by the team was scoring in the first period.  Now not that this hasn’t occurred in the past, but the norm seems to be that they finish that first period off with a double goose egg.  Tonight, however, team captain Cole WILTON changed things up and scored the first goal with the assistance of Kurtis DEJONG and Jaden FAULKNER. 11 seconds later, Will STEINBACH scored and Josh BEDOUR assisted ending the period 2 zip for the Meteors.  Lucknow answered back late in the 2nd period, but part way through the 3rd BEDOUR scored again.  Wade MONDEN and STEINBACH assisted his goal and they ended the game with a 3 to 0 win.

This win has put the boys in a very good place to win their division and move onto the finals, but Seaforth is also in a very good place.  Mitchell has two games left and the only way our boys move on is if they win both games.

Friday, March 10th, the Bantam’s played Seaforth in Monkton.  They have never beat the Stars, so the pressure is on!   So, I was rather disappointed that I forgot to bring my cowbell to this game, but the other parents who strategically position themselves around me in the stands were quite all right with my absentmindedness.  I did, however, bring my camera, so that was enough of a distraction for me that I really didn’t yell or make a whole lot of noise during the game.  You’re welcome.  LOL.  Anyways, back to the game.  First period, 41 seconds after the clock started, Carter YOST put Mitchell on the scoreboard and the fans went wild.  Kole HUNT assisted.  Mitchell clearly was out to win this game, but the night was young.  I have never seen these boys play so hard.  Half way through the period the scoreboard added two more points as YOST scored again followed by Basil VOROS shortly thereafter.  Brent SMITH assisted both goals and HUNT the latter.  Before the end of the first STEINBACH made a sweet pass to BEDOUR and he nailed the fourth goal for the period.  It is now 4 nothing Mitchell.  Mitchell did not let up in the 2nd and WILTON made the scoreboard read 5 to 0.  DEJONG and FAULKER were right in their helping their line mate on that goal.  Seaforth scored next, a beauty that bounced off of our pipe and landed behind goalie, Greg REIDY.  REIDY has been on fire all game, and true to his form just shook this goal off and continued to dominate between the pipes.   Basil VOROS padded Mitchell’s lead with the assistance of his older brother Dominic VOROS and the period ended in a very comfortable 6 to 1 lead for Mitchell.  Despite the significant lead, the Mitchell fans were not ready to celebrate just yet, as we all know how quickly things can change.  Early in the 3rd period Seaforth took advantage of a 5 on 3 power play and scored their second goal.  It’s to be expected that with aggressive play come penalties, so the Meteors did not disappoint in this regard as they tallied up 14 minutes total time of feeling shame.  Something tells me that most of them did not feel too much shame.  Dominic VOROS got the next goal assisted by YOST and once again Seaforth answered back putting them in a better position to take away our lead.  The period was more than half way over and Dominic VOROS, who I might mention has been on fire and improves his game every time he hits the ice, scored a beaut from the point.  SMITH and HUNT assisted.  The clock was now rapidly counting down to the end of the game and with 0:01 left on the clock Seaforth managed to squeeze one under REIDY’s pad…but it didn’t matter.  The buzzer sounded and Mitchell finally did it..they beat Seaforth 8 to 4 and only need one more win to finish this thing off.

It's now Saturday, March 11th and the boys have one final game.  Seaforth has 16 points and we have 15.  We need this win!!  The 1st period was a carbon copy of last nights game as the boys scored four goals by Basil VOROS, YOST, DEJONG and WILTON.  SMITH picked up the assist on WILTON’S goal.  Lucknow got a few shots on net too and REIDY was seen leaping from the net and trapping the puck with ease.  Lucknow did score before the end of the first, but it would be the last time the puck would enter our net.  The 2nd period was quite rough and tempers flared, but things were brought back under control and the Meteors earned three more goals scored by WILTON, Dominic VOROS and DEJONG.  Things calmed considerably in the 3rd and no goals were scored by either team.  The game ended in an exciting 7 to 1 win for the Meteors.  This gives them a total of 17 points.

Congratulations boys on winning the White South Division!  Good Luck in the finals :)
