DID THEY WIN? WILL THEY MOVE ONTO THE FINAL GAME?
The Mitchell arena was electric with energy last night as the Scotiabank Bantam LL Meteors skated onto the ice for Game 3 of their final series with South Bruce.  They had to win or the series would be over.

A few days away from the rink seemed to be what the boys needed to regroup and get their energy back.  The first period was stressful.  Both teams firing off shots and both goalies making incredible saves.  It was just a matter of time before one team got that all important first goal…but which would it be.  The first period ended tied at zero.

The second period was basically a carbon copy of the first.  Both teams prodding at the puck to get the advantage on the score board.  With a minute and a half left in play that period, Mitchell once again found themselves in front of South Bruce’s net.  The puck danced amongst their sticks only a few feet away from its intended destination when finally, Curtis CHAFFE snatched the puck with his stick and sent it flying to Wade MONDEN.  MONDEN, looking for the next play, lobbed the puck back to Josh BEDOUR who was set up perfectly for a slap shot from the blue line.  Without hesitation, BEDOUR wound up and sent the puck flying past the South Bruce goalie landing square in the net.  SCORE!!!  Celebratory cheers rang out through the arena and a cowbell was sounded with excitement.  Shortly thereafter the period ended 1 zip Mitchell, and the teams skated off for a little break in their dressing rooms.

Chris MORRISON makes driving a Zamboni look so easy, doesn’t she?!  10 minutes later the boys reappeared and warmed up with a few laps in their respective ends and a few stretches before they faced off for the final period.  Can the Mitchell boys hang on to their lead?  Will they get to play in Mildmay tomorrow night for the WOAA Championship trophy?  With the opportunity of making a quick 20 bucks, on a side bet/bribe, for a hat trick, Carter YOST was determined to get his team three more goals.  YOST took a shot towards the net, the puck ricocheted off the goalie’s stick and landed perfectly behind the line.  Later, Kole HUNT brought the puck down the ice, shot it over to Basil “HERB” VOROS, who completed the pass and YOST put it away for the Meteors.  THE METEORS WON THE GAME!  YOST may have been one goal short of his hat trick, but the team won 3 to 0 and Stevie DAUM earned himself another shutout!  The team is still in this!

They play tonight (Friday, March 31, 2017) at 8:30pm in Mildmay.  Send them your good vibes or make the trip to cheer them on in person (it’s only an hour away).

GO METEORS GO!
