BANTAM LL’s RECORD A SHUTOUT
Mitchell’s Scotiabank Bantam LL boys have a new lease on life after recording a 5 to 0 shutout over the Listowel Cyclones on December 2nd. Mitchell bombarded Listowel’s goalie all game long, recording 25 shots in the first period alone, but he masterfully deflected all but five giving him quite the workout...job well done.

Basil VOROS started things off with the first goal of the game that was assisted by Kole HUNT and Carter YOST. Despite a rather chaotic 15 minutes, the period ended with Mitchell in the lead 1 to 0.

Mere seconds into the 2nd period the refs sent a Cyclone to the sin bin for a hooking penalty giving Mitchell the 5 on 4 advantage. YOST, with the assistance of Kurtis DEJONG and Dominic VOROS, took full advantage of this by scoring goal number two. As the period progressed, the chaos settled and the boys started to get their groove back. Great passing plays were demonstrated by forward line YOST, Wade MONDEN and DEJONG which led to goal number three as the trio maneuvered the puck around eventually getting it in front of the net for MONDEN to take a shot that was blocked by that Listowel goalie. Without missing a beat, MONDEN picked up his own rebound and shoved the puck to the back of the net. Josh BEDOUR was robbed by the pipe as he drove a hard shot from the point only to hear a loud and disappointing "ting". The boys ended the period on a very energetic note and the scoreboard read 3 to 0.

Mitchell recorded two more goals in the third. HUNT got the first that was assisted by YOST and Brent SMITH and exactly one minute later YOST, with the assistance of Basil VOROS and HUNT. The arena was full of gusto during this final period. Lots of chit chat could be observed as the forwards discussed upcoming plays before their face-offs. Dominic VOROS played a strong defensive game as he messed up quite a few of the Cyclones plays and kept the puck from coming close to our net. As the time on the clock rapidly descended, Cole WILTON made one last ditch effort in the final seconds of the game shooting the puck hard on net just to be deflected by the end of the goalie’s stick. A superb effort by both players.

The final buzzer sounded and Mitchell skated away with a long overdue 5 to 0 win!
