CLINTON TOURNAMENT
Saturday, November 26th the Scotiabank Bantam LL boys travelled to Clinton to play in their first tournament of the season.

Game 1 the boys attacked the ice hard scoring early in the first period and giving them the lead over Twin Centres. Carter YOST recorded this goal with the assists going to teammates Will STEINBACH and Wade MONDEN. A couple minutes later TC answered back with a goal of their own tying the game up with a goal apiece. Before the end of the first, TC took the lead with a breakaway goal. The period ended leaving Mitchell in a very respectable 1-2 position. TC continued to make several shots on net and was always ready for the rebound which allowed them to score 5 more goals, despite the efforts of goalkeeper, Stevie DAUM, before the final buzzer. The game ended in a 7 to 1 victory for the other guys and put Mitchell in the B division.

Game 2 was a far more exciting game for all the fans to watch as the boys battled hard for nearly 4 periods. Mitchell took the lead early on, once again, when Kurtis DEJONG netted the biscuit in the 4x6 as line mate MONDEN provided the assist. The team played like a well-oiled machine…a complete 180 from the boys that skated on the same ice pad only hours before. They maintained their lead until the third period when #6 from BCH scored for his team and tied up this match. Both teams kept the growing crowd on its toes and at the end of the third period the score was still tied 1 to 1. The 4 on 4 10 minute overtime period went from end to end as each team tried desperately to score that winning goal that would move them on to the finals. With just over a minute left in play it looked like this game would end in a shoot-out. But, as any loyal hockey fan knows, a minute and 12 seconds is an eternity in the world of hockey and it was at that precise time that BCH scored the winning goal sending the Mitchell boys home. It was a hard fought game by both teams and could have gone either way.

Great come back boys. You’ll get ‘em next time!
