The Mitchell Collision Center Atom LL team beat Seaforth 7-2 on Saturday to finish the regular season a perfect 17-0! Good work team!
Even though Mitchell would eventually score a "touchdown" in the game, it started out as a much closer affair. The first period featured entertaining end to end action with both teams getting some chances but neither scoring. Early in the second Brandon Dietrich opened the scoring with a beauty rush from his own end. Lucas Mahon assisted on the goal. Seaforth would strike next as they sneaked one through goalie Keagan Meinen's legs. Meinen was sharp the rest of the second making several stops including a diving glove save and a nice pad save as well. The Meteors scored next on a real nice pass by Brandon from the corner to Grayson Yost in front of the net. The second period ended with the home team up a goal.
The Meteors would find their scoring touch in the third. Brandon Dietrich secured his hat trick by scoring the next two Mitchell goals. The first was a scramble in front of the net with the puck somehow trickling in and the second was a nice steal behind the net with a backhand finish. Yost would get his second tally of the game by knocking in the rebound after a nice shot by Bentley Phillips. After Seaforth scored again, Mitchell would get two more in the last 2 minutes of the game. Jacob Dietrich worked hard behind the net to get it in front where Payton Wood buried it. And then, a minute later, Wood found Bradley Dearing in the slot and the Big Dipper dug deep and fired a shot to the back of the net!
