Atom LL's Advance to Final at Hawks Cup
In a busy Friday of hockey, the MCR Atom LL's came away with two wins and a tie, enough to earn them a spot in the final on Sunday!  All three games were close and the boys played hard all day!

Game 1 featured the Meteors and the East Lambton Eagles.  Brandon Dietrich would open the scoring midway through the first period with Grayson Yost and Jacob Dietrich getting assists.  The Eagles would tie it up before the end of the period sending it to the second tied at a goal apiece.  Brandon Dietrich would strike again in the second to put Mitchell back on top.  Wade Campbell assisted on the goal.  In the third Keagan Meinen made some nice saves to hold the lead, but Lambton would eventually sneak one past him to tie the game again.  But less than a minute later, Bentley Phillips would tap in the rebound after Grayson Yost got the puck to the net from the corner.  With two minutes left, the Meteors again had the lead.  But it wasn't meant to be.  With just over a minute left, Mitchell took a penalty and East Lambton pulled their goalie to get a two-man advantage.  With just 32 seconds remaining, the Eagles would score and the game would end in a 3-3 draw.

The second game of the day was Mitchell versus the Dorchester Dragons.  Three unassisted goals for the Meteors.  Sam Huettlin went end to end and scored in the first.  Then, in the second, Grayson Yost powered his way through several defenders and scored.  Huettlin would add another after chipping it past the defenseman and taking it to the net.  Mitchell had a comfortable three goal lead but not for long as Dorchester got on the board with a late powerplay goal in the second period.  The Meteor defense would take over in the third to protect the lead and take the game 3-1.

Next up for the Meteors was Plattsville.  A nice top corner goal by Brandon Dietrich would break open this tight game early in the second frame.  Grayson Yost and Bentley Phillips would get assists.  In the third, Jeromy Vandewalle would get the job done himself, scoring unassisted.  The two goals were all Mitchell needed as the defense played really well.  The real story in this game was the stellar play of goalie Keagan Meinen who earned the shutout by making several nice saves!

Excellent work Mitchell and good luck on Sunday!
