Bantam Rep Boys are tested in Tillsonburg.
This past weekend the Mitchell Meteors Scotia Bank Bantam Boys Rep team had there hands full in their first tournament of the year in Tillsonburg, Ont.  The competition was tight and the boys and coaching staff knew they had their work cut out for them.

The tournament round robin went Friday and Saturday with the boys compiling a perfect 3-0 record.  Every game seemed to be fast paced and very physical, Mitchell used their quickness and overwhelming fore-check to keep the other teams on their heels.  The opposition could not get any type of break out established,  the Meteors seemed to blanket the ice with their aggressive attack.  Round robin wins came against Kincardine, Tillsonburg (eventual winner), Strathroy.
Having finished top of the table, Mitchell had to play on Sunday for the semi finals against Dorchester. This game started no different,  the Dragons goalie was under pressure from the drop of the puck,  with some unfortunate bounces the Meteors still found themselves 3-1 down halfway through the first.  The Dorchester goalie stood on his head to keep his team ahead, at the end of the first it was 4-1 Dorchester.  This left a huge mountain to climb for these young men,  but climb they did!  The next two periods seemed to pick up pace by the minute,  the Bantam boys played their hearts out and when the smoke cleared the Dragons had won 5-4.  In the post game interview head coach Joe Schoonderwoerd thanked his players for a great weekend of entertaining hockey, and about the final result he stated, " I have nothing but praise for these young men, today was a test of their character and we all saw, they passed with flying colors, we are a very proud coaching staff".
The Bantam Boys Rep team will continue league play against Kincardine in Mitchell on Friday night at 9:00pm, come out and support them. Thank You
