Bantam Reps Wrap Up Series At Home.
The Scotia Bank Bantam Rep Boys hockey team had their hands full last Tuesday in Clinton.

The Meteors headed to Clinton on Tuesday evening with the series tied 1-1.  During the pregame show the coaching staff was emphasizing the importance of game threes in most series.  Coach Schoonderwoerd pointed out "that 79% of series are won by the team that win game three".  During the first period you could tell BCH was fighting for their life.  The Meteor boys were down 1-0 by the end of the first.  During the break the coaching staff did a great job of calming the boys down and refocusing on the task at hand.  The second period started with a steady pace and as the period progressed the game was  controlled by Mitchell.  The second period ended 3-2.  Third period was marred by a flurry of penalties, due to frustration in the BCH end.  Coach Maclean stated " the refs had to keep the game in control, and I think he did a great job".  As the final horn sounded Mitchell had surmounted a 5-2 lead and never let go.   This means the series was going back to Mitchell on Friday night with the opportunity to close out the series.
On Friday Morning at the team breakfast,  the main focus of the coaches was to keep the team loose and confident,   the morning skate was kept fun and relaxed with shooting drills and some strategy work.  Later that evening as the bleachers were filling up there was a sense of excitement in the air.  In the tunnel Scotia Bank Bantam boys were getting fired up.  The period started with Mitchell controlling the puck in the BCH end for two thirds of the first period.  BCH still got on the board first with a shorthanded goal.  Mitchell responded with in seconds to tie it up.  The Meteors withstood a barge of opportunities from BCH and capitalized on their own chances and took a 3-1 lead, as the second period came to a close Mitchell held a 3-2 lead. This score did not show how well Mitchell was playing, once again the BCH goalie proved difficult to beat.  As the third period started both teams traded power play opportunities as the referees tried to keep the game in control.  During the third both teams played some of the best hockey the fans have seen all year. Everyone seemed to be on the edge of their seat.  BCH managed to tie it up and the game seemed dead locked at 3.  The game seemed destined to go to overtime.  With 1:15 left on the clock Mitchell boys put together one last push and set up goal to take the lead, as time expired BCH had to pull the goalie and Mitchell capitalized two more times ending the game with a score of 6-3. In post game debriefing coach Schoonderwoerd wanted express his thanks to all the fans, he stated "these boys played with a lot of heart out there, but you can see why when your playing in front of a packed house".  This win sends the boys to the OMHA semifinals against Ilderton.  Thanks to everyone that came out to watch, and we look forward to seeing you at the next home game.
