THE CLOCK RAN OUT JUST 4 GOALS SHY OF A WIN.
The Lockhart Funeral Home Pee Wee LL team had a rough go with the Blyth Brussels Black #1 team in their barn on Sunday, January 18th.  Despite taking an early lead in the first period, they just were not able to clinch the win and skated away with a 6 to 3 loss.

Carter YOST zig zagged his way down the rink and scored, unassisted, on the Blyth Brussels goalie setting Mitchell up with what could have been a victorious Sunday afternoon game. Stevie DAUM tended the net and blocked several shots with the assistance of defenseman, Jackson THORPE, who aided in preventing some of the shots not only with his stick, but also using his fancy soccer-like moves. They almost finished the period with a win, but Blyth Brussels snuck one in with under a minute to go to tie the period 1 to 1.

Mitchell seemed to take a break for most of the second period allowing Blyth Brussels to score three more goals. When they managed to get a second wind they had a brief gathering in front of their opponent’s net which resulted in goal number two for Mitchell. Wade MONDEN was responsible for netting that puck with the assistance of Jaden FAULKNER and Will STEINBACH. Mitchell had one opportunity to take advantage with a power play and despite the efforts of Ryker VANDENBROEK they just could not seem to find the net and concluded that period 4 to 2 them.

Blyth Brussels began period three with the advantage as a Mitchell player served time for a tripping call. Mitchell held them off and once back to full strength Kole HUNT waited patiently in front of their net for the exact right moment to deliver the pass from Jake WALKER right between the pipes. YOST was also right there assisting his teammates. As the gap on the scoreboard narrowed to 4 to 3 it was looking like it could be anybody’s game. Riley MURRAY attempted to get a rebound goal and tie things up, but the talented Blyth Brussel’s goalie provided a rock-hard defense and would not allow us anymore goals. They held onto their lead and added a couple more goals. The clock ran out and we skated away with a tough 6 to 3 loss.
