BATTLING THE TOP OF THE PACK
On Saturday, December 20th the Lockhart Funeral Home Pee Wee LL team played in Clinton against the first place BCH Ice Dogs 2.  Despite a tough battle, the Mitchell boys skated away with a disappointing loss.

Brent SMITH tended the net where he blocked countless shots drilled at him by BCH.  Both teams battled hard during this first period as they skated back and forth from either end of the rink.  They ended the period tied 0 to 0.

The second period, however, was a different story.  BCH came out strong scoring its first two goals a mere 24 seconds apart.  They consistently shot the puck at our net all period long.  Curtis CHAFFE and Carter YOST had some scoring opportunities, but just couldn't get the puck between the pipes.  The end result was 2 to 0 for BCH.

The final period of the game the Mitchell boys lost all their oomph!  BCH took advantage of this and scored 4 more goals finishing the game with a 6 to 0 win for them.

The two teams played again on the following day on Mitchell's home turf.  Mitchell brought its "A" game this time.  The game remained scoreless after the first period, much like the day before, but things started to heat up in the second period.

During the second period, Carter YOST scored first and was assisted by Kole HUNT.  The second goal was scored by Cole WILTON and assisted by Denzyl FINLAYSON and YOST.  BCH also scored twice in this period which resulted in another tied period, 2 to 2.

Mitchell worked hard to defeat this strong team, but fell short as they had two more goals scored on them resulting in a 4 to 2 loss.   A much better game then the day prior.  Good work boys.

The Mitchell Pee Wee LL boys are now in a 3-way tie for fifth place out of 14 teams in league standings.  They will break for the Christmas holidays and resume play on Monday, December 29th in Seaforth.  With only a few more games left in their regular season, please make a point of coming out to the rink to cheer on your local boys!
