Great team effort extends the hot streak
The VanGerwen SunLife Atom girls played another game yesterday giving them another win in their regular season.
Yesterday, the Atom Girls played host to the Lambeth Lancers. Everyone was ready for a tough game as we had something to prove to them! The first period was kept scoreless despite shots from each team. In the second, Lambeth opened the scoring with a rebound that they were able to tap in behind our goalie Makayla B but within a minute Erica P scored a beautiful top shelf goal from a solid pass by Taya C to tie the game at 1. During this period our girls were determined and didn't back down not giving Lambeth any room and continued to dominate the game. Emma F scored just a couple minutes after the start of the third period with Brooklyn G providing her help to give us the lead. With everyone playing hard and not backing down Erica P was able to add a couple more goals in the third period. Brett G and Emma F help Erica P get her hat trick. With just a couple of minutes left in the game and the lead 4-1, Lambeth had a good shot on Makayla B but she wasn't able to cover the rebound and with a scramble behind her, Lambeth was able to tap it in to cut the lead to 2. With less than, 2 minutes left in the game, Lambeth was called for to many players and we were able to keep the play out of zone and secure the win 4-2.
Great game girls, we are all very proud of your determination and team play so far this season! A big thanks to our coaching staff of Jamie G, Jamie G and Dawn P for all your time and support you have given to the girls. Looking forward to watching and cheering for the rest of the season!
