Watch out Provincals, Here We Come
Congratulations to our SunLife - Paul Van Gerwen Atom Girls on sweeping their play down pool, earning the right to compete at the Provincial tournament in April.
On Saturday at home, we took on our last team left in the series of Provincal play downs. With this victory, the girls would go undefeated in their pool and give them their "hockey holiday" that were are looking forward to in April. The St Mary's Rock were hoping to knock the mighty Meteors off their game but that wasn't the case as our girls were focused and ready to win. First period started with St Mary's getting their first shot on net but our goalie Makayla B with the help of our defence managed to keep it in front of her and she would continue her solid play for the remainder of the game. Neither goalie was willing to let anything in during the period. Second period started and it didn't take long before our fiesty girls got their game back and controlled the play. Charlee F was doing her part as she was able to pass the puck to Brooklyn G who would seal the deal and put the good girls on top. A few minutes later, Emma F skated from one end to the other and would score unassisted to extend the lead. With momentum in our favour and just 12 minutes left in the game, our girls were determined to go undefeated in this play down series. Emma F would score her second goal of the game unassisted with Taya C adding to the lead with help from centre Jaimie B. In the last few minutes the Rock were still trying to figure out how to get these girls off their game and score but our Meteors would have none of that! With the clock counting down to zero, the scoreboard showing 4-0 for us and a roaring cheer from the bench, the buzzer sounded and a celebration would start as our girls are still undefeated. Way to go girls, you finished on top of your play down pool and will be making the other teams going to Provincals very nervous!
This afternoon, we are heading to Mt Forest to play the Rams in exhibition play. Keep up the great team effort!
