Atom LL's semi-finalists in Paris Tournament
The Mitchell MCR Atom LL competed in the Paris Wolfpack Tournament Jan. 2-4 riding a seven game winning streak.
In the first game against their hosts, Mitchell won 3-1 setting up a contest with New Hamburg, which they also won, 2-1 thanks to the winning goal by Tye Baynham. Against Beverly in their final round-robin game, their opponents jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two periods. In the third period Carter Yost scored with a beautiful shot top shelf to get within one. Despite lots of pressue and a two-man advantage they could not get the equalizer in a 2-1 loss.
The squad advanced to the semi-finals as the third seed and took on Oakville. In a tight game Oakville scored int he first but Mitchell squared thing in the second. IN the third Oakville regained the lead early but the Meteors responded with 2:46 left to tie the game again. Mitchell had many chances but could not break the tie before a late turnover allowed Oakville to score on a breakaway with 17 left, eliminating the heart-broken squad.
Great Effort boys, it was some exciting and fun hockey to watch!
