Game Re-cap Nov 15 Through Nov. 23
Tournament Nov. 15 & 16th
The Mitchell MCR Atom LL made the short trip up the road on November 15 and 16 for the Bill Carnochan Atom tournament in Seaforth.
The boys finished with a 1-2-0 record by starting off the tournament with a 6-3 victory over Ripley. Leading the scoring was Tye Baynham with a 3 goals and Jaden Faulker with a goal and 2 assists. In the next game Mitchell could not get one by the Seaforth goalie in a 5-0 loss. The boys played hard for half the game keeping it to only 2 goal lead but a couple short handed goals took the momentum away in the third. In the final game of win and move on to the finals or lose and go home, the boys battled hard again for the first two periods against Drayton who had beat Seaforth earlier in the tournament 11-3. After a scoreless first period, Drayton was only able to notch 1 on the board in the second. With only a 1 goal deficit going into the 3rd the boys were poised to tie it up. Unfortunately the 3rd period started with Drayton scoring 2 short-handed goals before Carter Y answered to bring the score within 2. Shortly thereafter Drayton scored again bringing the final score to 4-1. It was a great weekend of hockey overall and a good first tournament experience for the boys.
League Game Nov. 19, 2013 vs Seaforth Stars
Tuesday night the boys got the chance to redeem themselves from the recent loss to Seaforth. The Mitchell boys came to play and jumped out to two goal lead with help from Evan MacAuthur, PJ Marshall and Spencer Boyce’s line scoring the first pair, and then extended it to a 3 goal lead after 2 periods. Carter Yost added one more for his second of the game to get back the 3 goal lead but then the wheels fell off with 3 unanswered goals by the vistors with the last one at only 29 seconds left in regulation. The game finished up with a 4-4 tie and a great improvement from the weekend game.
League Game Nov. 23, 2013 vs Lucknow Sepoys
On Saturday Mitchell travelled north to Lucknow on a stormy day. The team arrived with great enthusiasm and finished up with a 5-3 victory. Both Carter Yost and Wade Monden had a pair of stellar goals and Riley Murray was between the pipes for the win.
