Novice LL End Tournament With A Win
In a nail-biting final of the B Division Consolation game, the Mitchell Novice LL's came away with a well deserved win against Blyth-Brussels to end their Hawk's tournament on a high note.
Blyth-Brussels opened the scoring in the first period, but Mitchell dug in and fought hard for the puck so that their opponent would not gain the lead in the game again. Jack Steinbach would score an unassisted goal for Mitchell with just seconds left in the first period to get Mitchell on the board.
Mitchell would score again early in the second period with Brayden Glauser netting an unassisted goal. Mitchell held the score until the final seconds of the second period when Blylth-Brussels would get one past Mitchell to tie the game at 2.
The third period saw action that was end to end with Mitchell's defensive squad doing a great job of keeping the puck away from their goalie Brennen Vander Kuylen. Jake Crowley had Mitchell fans jumping from their seats as he put the game winner in the net with assists from Brayden Glauser and Jack Steinbach. The Novice LL Caravan Kids would end their tournament with a 3-2 win and strong defensive play in their own end, as they shut down Blyth-Brussels who had pulled their goalie as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
