Tournament Troubles for Novice LL
The Dodge Caravan Novice LL's had a challenging start to the annual Hawk's tournament today posting two losses and a tie in a busy day of hockey.

In their first game against Seaforth the game began with both teams playing strong in the first period. Mitchell got on the board with a goal by Jack Steinbach assisted by Brayden Glauser and at the end of the first period the score was tied at 1.  Mitchell managed to hold Seaforth to a total of four goals in the game, but could not manage to find the net themselves again after their strong first period. Goalie Brennen Vander Kuylen stood strong in the net and kept his team in the game.

Mitchell faced a very strong St. Marys team for their second game of the tournament.  St. Marys managed to net seven goals in the first period as Mitchell struggled to find their skating legs and keep up to the strong skating visitors. Credit is given to the team as they did not give up after this difficult start to their game and in the second period managed to score twice. Sam Huettlin was the first to find the net on an unassisted goal followed shortly thereafter by Noah Mann with an assist given to Brayden Glauser. St. Marys would keep Mitchell to these two goals and the game ended with a final score of 10-2.

In the team's final game of the round-robin portion of the tournament they came up against an evenly matched team from Dresden. The two teams skated to a scoreless first period and then Dresden opened the scoring shortly into the second period. However, the Meteors fought back to even the score at 1-1 mid-way through the period on a breakaway goal by Logan Nugent. An exciting third period saw the visitors scoring with 4 minutes left to take a 2-1 lead. Despite playing their third game of the day against a fresh Dresden team, the local side continued a terrific effort as they forced the play in the Dresden end of the ice in the last minutes of the match. With the goalie pulled in the final minute, Mitchell won the face-off in the oppostion end and Brandon Dietrich ripped a shot passed the Dresden goalie to even the score with only 24 seconds remaining to leave the game locked in a 2-2 tie.
