Peewee's take commanding lead in series.
The New Orleans Pizza Peewee Rep team traveled to Schomberg last Friday night to open up the next round of WOAA/OMHA playoff action. With no scouting report on their opponents and a two hour drive on a dirty night, parents and fans did not know what to expect from either team.

First period play provided few shots however Mitchell’s Jake Preszcator converted a pass from Jacob Rauser to go ahead 1-0 with just under three minutes to go in the opening frame.

Second and third periods were all Mitchell and scoring came from all three lines as they would net two in the middle frame and three more in the final to leave town with a 6-0 victory and a shutout win for Tanner Knechtel.

Preszcator would lead the way with a hat-trick; Rauser had a three point night adding a goal and another assist. Other goals were scored by Curtis Lockhart and Ryan Murray.

Both clubs returned to action the next afternoon in Mitchell for game two in the race to 6 points. Two and a half minutes in Jarett Vogels opened the scoring for Mitchell with help from Lockhart. Mitchell would score two power-play goals before the period ended to take a quick 3-0 lead.

In a repeat of the night before scoring in the final two periods came from every Mitchell line as well as the defensemen. The team netted three more goals in each period to tally a 9-0 victory to take a strangle hold on the series 4 points to none. This time the shutout win went to Riley Deline. Other Mitchell goals were scored by Lockhart and Jacob McPhee each with a pair, and singles by Preszcator, Murray, Riley Sykes and Reid Ramseyer.

Courtesy of winning the flip, Schomberg will be making the return trip to Mitchell for game 3 on Friday at 8 pm when the boys hope to end the series quickly.
