QUARTER FINAL LOSS ENDS BID FOR SILVER STICK
On Sunday morning the Mitchell Peewee AE boys headed into their fourth game in less than 48 hours; a quarter final match up versus Lambton Shores Predators in the South Huron Silver Stick. Lambton Shores earned the bye from Friday play by finishing 1st in their pool seeding and were likely better rested.

The previous match up between these two teams a month ago at the 56th Annual Mitchell Peewee tournament proved to be a close contest with Mitchell coming out on top 2-0.

Lambton Shores opened the scoring within the first two minutes of the game to quickly move ahead 1-0 and capitalize on their chances in an otherwise tight period. The ten minute period produced three shots for the Predators and two for Mitchell.

In the second period Mitchell was able to generate twice as many shots; 13-6 but the bulk of them were from above the top of the circle and handled efficiently by the Lambton Shores net-minder to maintain the one goal lead. Penalties started to add up for both sides in the middle frame with each taking four minors.

In the final frame both teams matched one another in shots on goal and effort but penalty problems continued for the Mitchell side; likely a result of getting tired and seeing time tick away. Lambton Shores would capitalize on a power play goal to increase their lead to 2-0 with three minutes to play. Just over a minute later they would add another to put the game out of reach 3-0.

In a way it was feast or famine for the Mitchell squad coming away with two shutout wins and two shutout losses. The boys dug deep all four games and have to come away proud of their effort.
