OHMA Semi-finals Begin
After a successful 5 game series vs Listowel, Mitchell welcomed Lambeth Lancers to town Friday night to begin their next series.

Game #1
Welcoming new opponents to town whom had never met meant that team work would be necessary for success.  Five minutes in Gettler moved the puck to Ramseyer who fired the puck at the net where Eidt tipped it in for a one goal lead.  Play would continue to rush back and forth, end to end with both net minders making great saves to keep their teams in the game.  With the clock running out, a bit of chaos was created in the Mitchell end and Lambeth banged a loose puck in to tie things up six seconds from the break.

Being tied at one each going into the second Mitchell continued to pressure their visitors and get the rubber to their net.  All of the defencemen kept the puck in and worked hard at keeping it away from their own zone effectively.  Stepping up and chasing attackers down showed them working as a team.  Forwards were backchecking and generating their own opportunities.  But nothing would change and the teams would finish the second still tied at one.

The third period began where the second left off with play going from end to end and back again.  Fans were being treated to a great game.  Just under 5 minutes in, Harmer fired the biscuit up the wing to Eidt who broke out and beat the Lancer keeper for the go ahead goal.  Pressure continued and Duncan continued to rob the Lambeth attackers who did get into the zone throughout the next ten minutes.  Then the Lancers pulled their goalie for the extra attacker with about 90 seconds remaining.  The Meteors broke out of their own end and down where the puck was sent just wide of the empty net.  A couple more chances in the same sequence were also there, but again the puck went just wide and was blocked.  Lambeth moved the puck out of their own end and down where a mad scramble resulted and the Lancers moved the puck around until they finally banged it in to tie things up with only 22 seconds left.

Tied at two, the game went into a 10 minute sudden death overtime.  While chances were there, nobody would capitalize on them and this game would end in a 2-2 tie.

Game #2
After skating to a 2-2 tie two nights earlier, Mitchell visited Lambeth for a Sunday night matchup.  But unlike the first game, Mitchell didn't appear prepared for the Lancers.  The game quickly went the home team's way and they never looked back.  Lambeth out hustled, out passed, out scored and out chanced the Meteors in each period.  Goals were credited to Eidt & McCorkindale while the lone assist went to Harmer.

Mitchell suffered a tough 7-2 loss and will need to regroup for round robin play Monday night in Harriston.  The next OHMA semi-final will go Friday night in Mitchell.  Pull up you socks boys and regroup.
