Don't count them out!
The Meteors headed to Listowel for game#4 down 2 games to 1 in a best of 5 series meant that we were sitting in a do or die situation.

After Sunday's game the Meteor boys knew they would have to come out fast and stay out of the penalty box.  It was less than one minute into the game when Rauser would take a pass from Harmer up the wing and rip it by the Cyclone keeper to light the light.  Less than one minute later, it was McMann's and Dietz getting the assists for Boville's goal which gave Mitchell a quick 2 goal lead.  Not to be outdone, Eidt busted up the middle, deked his way over the blueline and in where he beat the Listowel keeper less than 5 minutes in to put them up by three.  While the pressure was kept on for the rest of the period, Duncan was forced to make some great saves and get out of the period with a 3-0 lead.

The second period saw a few more penalties than the first, but Listowel also put the pressure on.  Play went back and forth and the Cyclones keeper was matching Duncan save for save.  However, midway though the period the Cyclones killed off two penalties and then busted the shutout bid.  Less than 2 minutes later Listowel was granted another powerplay and while the Meteors had been effective on the penalty kill, the home team capitalized on their opportunity and pulled within one.  Play continued to be aggressive but the period would end with Mitchell up 3-2.

The third period saw Mitchell get their act together and get back to their own game.  Again the Meteors put the pressure on, while Duncan made more good saves with the help of all his boys in front of him.  With just over 9 minutes left in the final frame, Eidt converted a great pass from behind the net into the top corner to restore their 2 goal margin (assists given to Vogels and Rauser).  The final minutes seemed to last forever as the Meteors worked at keeping the puck deep in the Cyclones' end.   While they weren't always deep, they did work hard and get rewarded for their efforts with a 4-2 win!

Great team effort boys!

Keep it going...

Game #5 goes Sunday night @5:45 at home in Mitchell.
